A Personal Trainer Can Help You Get Healthy and Stay Fit

Strengthen your body.

Exercise promotes muscle growth, burns fat, lowers cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, prevents diabetes, and preserves bone density.

Awaken your mind.

Engaging in regular exercise improves brain functioning into late adulthood.

Enliven your spirit.

Exercise improves self-esteem and gives you a sense of control. People who exercise regularly have less anxiety and depression than those who don't.

Vaibhav (“V”) Maurya, M.D. is a Board-certified Physician
and a Certified Personal Trainer in Atlanta, GA

If you are looking for a personal trainer who has the academic credentials, working knowledge, and enthusiasm to help you achieve your fitness goals, FitMD Atlanta has you covered. Dr. Maurya (or simply “V”) holds a medical degree and is dual-certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Council of Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT). And, of course, he is also CPR certified.

Regardless of your existing fitness level, hiring a good personal trainer can accelerate your progress. If you are a beginner, a personal trainer can demonstrate how to use exercise equipment correctly, customize a workout program suited to your needs, diagnose and correct faulty movement patterns, monitor your progress, help you set realistic goals, identify unhealthy food and lifestyle choices, and provide encouragement and motivation.

For experienced exercisers, a personal trainer can help you overcome plateaus, introduce new and exciting training styles, improve your technique, and prevent stagnation. And if you are already an athlete, a personal trainer can help you get to that next level in your conditioning program and integrate exercises that will help you perform better in your specific sport.

Thinking about hiring a personal trainer? It is advisable to seek out a personal trainer with a graduate degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology, physical therapy, nutrition, and/or medicine. Personal trainers come from a variety of educational backgrounds, from a simple high school diploma to a medical degree. While there is no central licensing agency providing oversight for personal trainers, most trainers have completed one or more programs. However, not all these programs are accredited. Examples of accredited personal training certification programs include ACE, NASM, ACSM, and NCCPT. For a complete list of accredited personal trainer certifications, go to http://www.credentialingexcellence.org/nccadirectory. It is also important to make sure your personal trainer is CPR certified in the event of an emergency.”
